PREZ SEZ

WOW, what a crowd at our first meeting of the Corvette driving season!

I guess there’s some pent-up energy. It was great to see returning members and welcome to all the new members.

To both new members and to “seasoned members” the best way to get the most out of your membership is to get involved by driving your Corvette. Take a look at this partial list of what we call the “2022 Wheels Turning Tour” and see what fits your interests and time frame.

The details of each event will be listed on the SFCC website Event Calendar. You will receive an email reminder from chips@siouxfallscorvetteclub.com . Save this address in your contacts or your server may recognize these emails as junk or spam.

  • Drive & Dines are usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening. We meet, caravan for about an hour, socialize, and dine. Stay as long as you’d like, but we try to plan them so you can return home before you have to share the road with deer.

  • Day trips are normally on a Saturday or Sunday. We cruise or caravan to a destination that includes some scenery, a car collection, or other points of interest. We make a few pit stops along the route to socialize, have dinner & head home. Join us for the whole trip or any part if that works better for you.

  • The Spring Rally is a time & distance low key fun competition to match the perfect time & distance as determined by the organizers who drive the routes several times to determine the perfect time. You’ll be given a detailed set of instructions, with turns and clues to spot along the route, so this event requires a drive & a navigator. SFCC has been doing this yearly event for 30 plus years and to date we have had zero documented divorces as a direct result of the Spring Rally.

  • SFCC Car Show for Corvettes and Camaros will be held at the Military Alliance on Russell Ave. In contrast to most car shows, this is an evening show at a great facility.

  • The four-day Black Hills Corvette Classic is a must do if you enjoy joining hundreds of Corvettes for cruising through the beautiful Black Hills. Join Vette owners from every state in the US, for parties, prizes, and entertainment.

  • Special events like the parade escorting Vietnam veterans and the Vietnam wall into Parkston.

  • You’re also invited to Wegner Roofing, 6100 W 41st, for a car show on April 23, 11AM to 2PM to show your Corvette. They will have a food truck and you will receive a voucher for free food.

  • Numerous local and regional car shows including Hot Classic Nights, Automania and Spomer Motors.

  • We’re planning a trip or two to other Corvette events across the nation. Eureka Springs, AK and the National Corvette Museum are good possibilities. Contact any Board member with your interest or input or another destination.

  • Racing. If you have a “need for speed” a few SFCC members compete in a series of autocrosses sponsored by Siouxland Sports Car Club at the fairgrounds, which is one of the biggest autocross courses in the area. They do an excellent job running a quality series of events. There is also a group of members who enjoy higher speed Road Courses where you can really feel the thrill of driving America's Sports Car.

REMEMBER THAT THE APRIL MEETING WILL BE AT TAILGATORS IN BRANDON
