First, I want to thank everyone that attended the many Drive & Dines and activities the SFCC has had this year. A special
thanks to Past Prez Mike Skiles for his time and work in organizing these fun events.
A big shout-out to Doc Walker for putting together the tour of the National Music Museum on the USD campus. It was awesome and is one of those hidden gems in South Dakota that everyone should visit. An unexpected, and very special treat, was a piano performance at the Museum by Doc. Wow, can he ever play the piano!
Our last Drive & Dine for this year will be held on Sunday, September 8th at the Hillside Resort on the south edge of Lake Madison. To celebrate the new owner’s Grand Opening there will be food, beverages and pontoon rides available. Also, Dave Rowe’s Last Call Band will be performing for your enjoyment. This is something you won’t want to miss! We will caravan from the east parking lot of the Ramkota, leaving promptly at 1:30 pm. I absolutely need a head count by Wednesday, September 4th so the owner knows how much food to order. Please RSVP to robinson@mit.midco.net.
Also, don’t forget to mark your calendar for Abdulah’s Annual Lamb Feast on Sunday, October 13th starting at 3:30 p.m. This wonderful event is being held at Abdulah’s place of business, Sioux Empire Cleaning, in Brandon. The address is: 1808 W. Frontier St. Nominations for the 2025 SFCC Board will be held at this meeting. If you are interested in the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and/or Secretary make your wishes known at this event. Elections will be held at the Annual Banquet in November.
The Annual Banquet at Five Oaks will be held on Saturday, November 9th. As always there will be a dinner provided by the SFCC from Tony’s Catering. As we did last year in order to get an accurate head count for the food, your RSVP must be accompanied by a $30 check made out to SFCC. You will get your uncashed check back at the door that evening. If you don’t show up your check will be cashed. You can give your check to Elaine at the September general membership meeting on Wednesday, September 25th or at Abdulah’s Lamb Feast. If you will not be attending either one of these events you may mail your check to: Sioux Falls Corvette Club, P.O. Box 994, Mitchell, SD 57301. Your RSVP is due on or before Thursday, October 31st. This is a firm deadline!
SEPTEMBER
8 Drive & Dine to the Hillside Resort located at 46042 W. 238th St. in Wentworth, SD. Certified Angus beef plus a great bar. There is a Car Show from 2PM – 6PM with trophies, free boat rides and music provided by the Last Call Band. Meet at the Ramkota parking lot to caravan at 1:00, the caravan departs at 1:30.
